7 Liverpool Players Could Miss Clash as Manchester United Receive Boost

Liverpool are set to host Manchester United in a highly anticipated Premier League clash this Sunday. However, manager Arne Slot faces a major headache, with up to seven players potentially sidelined due to injuries.

In contrast, United boss Ruben Amorim has been handed a fitness boost, as several key players return to training in recent weeks. Matheus Cunha, Diogo Dalot, and Mason Mount are all back in contention. Mount even marked his first start since August by scoring in United’s 2–0 win over Sunderland before the international break.

Following that victory, Amorim is eyeing back-to-back league wins for the first time since taking charge. A fully fit squad would be a huge lift for the Red Devils as they prepare to travel to Merseyside.

Lisandro Martínez is nearing full recovery after resuming training, though he may be eased back following his ACL injury in February. Noussair Mazraoui, who missed United’s previous match, is also expected to be available for selection against Liverpool.

Injury Concerns for Key Liverpool Players

Meanwhile, Liverpool manager Arne Slot has some serious concerns regarding the fitness of several key players — including two relatively new signings.

Ibrahima Konaté was forced off the pitch during the defeat to Chelsea due to a thigh issue. Ryan Gravenberch filled in at centre-back when Konaté was withdrawn, but if Gravenberch himself remains unavailable, Slot could be left short of options.

Gravenberch was substituted at halftime in the Netherlands’ win over Finland during World Cup qualifying. “Ryan indicated he had some minor hamstring problems,” said Dutch head coach Ronald Koeman.

After the match, Gravenberch added:

“It was partly a fitness precaution. The season is still long, so we didn’t want to take risks. I feel good and have the coach’s trust.”

Longer-Term Absentees

Liverpool have already confirmed that Alisson Becker will be out for several weeks with a hamstring injury, while new signing Giovanni Leoni suffered a serious knee injury last month.

There are also concerns over Wataru Endo, who withdrew from the Japan national team due to an undisclosed injury.

With so many players in doubt, Arne Slot faces a major challenge to keep Liverpool’s title hopes on track ahead of the fierce clash with Manchester United.
